UNC Lenoir Health Care's Pastoral Care program supplies the spiritual component in health care. Chaplains are available to offer compassionate care and comfort though listening, prayer, and scripture readings.
Who We Support
We support the patients, families, and visitors by giving support related to the impact of hospitalization, illness, grief and other concerns.
We encourage the presence of community clergy and will make every effort to allow access to clergy members when the patient or family desires their services.
About Our Program
We have one staff chaplain that is assisted by volunteer faith leaders representing a variety of religious backgrounds. All of our chaplains observe the highest professional and ethical standards.
Though theologically trained, chaplains respect the spiritual preference of other faith groups and work along with area faith leaders. If you desire pastoral care from your faith leader, he or she should be contacted directly.
If you are an ordained minister and have interest in becoming a UNC Lenoir Health Care volunteer chaplain, use the contact information below to make contact with the Lenoir Memorial Pastoral Care Coordinator.
How to Contact a Chaplain
To contact a chaplain contact your nurse, dial “O” from any hospital phone, call the pastoral care coordinator at 252-522-7131 or email him at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Our beautiful chapel is located in the lobby across from the gift shop. It is always open for prayer, reading, and meditation. Care Notes on a variety of subjects are provided for your reading pleasure.
You may use the prayer journal provided in the chapel to share your prayer needs and victories. Chaplains and others check the journal frequently to pray over the needs identified.
