KINSTON, N.C. — The UNC Lenoir Health Care Family Birth Center celebrated 25 years of women’s services in the community in September of 2019.  The Family Birth Center has welcomed nearly 14,000 babies during the last 25 years.  On September 19, area providers and community members gathered at UNC Lenoir for a Kinston/Lenoir County Chamber of Commerce Business after Hours to celebrate the occasion.  At the event, area OB/GYNs, midwives, family physicians and pediatricians were on hand to discuss their services with those in attendance. At present the community has four OB/GYNs, De Shonta King, MD; Jamette Huffman, DO; LaShawn A. Weaver-Lee, MD; and Kushatha West-Quire, DO, and two midwives: Denise Davis, BSN, CNM, and Elizabeth Coats, CNM.
