Update 9/19/18 UNC Lenoir is back on normal operating schedule with phones restored and restricted access lifted.

Update 9/18/18

As of 5 p.m. Tuesday, September 18, 2018, phone service has been restored. Fax capability should also be available.  If you have questions please call the hospital at 252-522-7000.

Restricted access will end tonight and tomorrow visitors and staff will be allowed to enter through the main entrance under the glass canopy. Except for the limitations we are experiencing due to our phone outage, normal operations will proceed tomorrow 9/19/18.

UNC Health Care Extends Free Access Period to Virtual Care Service for Hurricane Victims

Fees Waived through September 23rd

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – Sept. 17, 2018 – In the aftermath of Hurricane Florence and continued challenging conditions across much of the state, UNC Health Care has extended its offer of free access to its virtual care service, UNC Urgent Care 24/7.

Free access will be available for persons physically located in the State of North Carolina through Sunday, September 23rd at 11:59 pm.

This service from UNC Health Care provides patients with real-time access to physicians via phone, tablet or computer.  

To register and create a UNC Urgent Care 24/7 account, patients must visit or visit the Apple App and Google Play stores to download the app to a smartphone or tablet.  Patients should use the offer code UNCFLORENCE2018 from the website or app.

UNC Lenoir is slowly returning to normal operations.  Rehab Services is open. Wound Care is open.  Wellness is closed until further notice. Cancer Center is open. For other information please call the hospital at 252-522-7000 and if that is not working you may call 252-560-7708.

Update 9/17/18

Retail Pharmacies are open. Wal-Mart is closing at 5PM. Other pharmacies are closing at 6 either due to normal hours or the curfew.  When the curfew is lifted pharmacies will resume normal hours.

Down East Medical patients that are without power and on oxygen please call UNC Lenoir at 252-560-7708 if you need assistance or to speak with someone at Down East.

From southern Lenoir County/Pink Hill area Hwy. 11 is open to Jackson Crossroads. Turn right onto Tyree Rd. left onto 258 South which will take you to Queen Street.  Additionally there are no plans to close 258S. today.

Update 9/16/18

The UNC Lenoir Health Care Wound Care Center will be open 8 AM - 4:30 PM on Monday September 17.  Please call 252-775-5920 option 1 if you have any questions or you need to reschedule. 

Outpatient Rehab Services will be open on Monday, September 17.  If you have any questions or need to reschedule please call 252-522-7920.

Update 9/16/18

Dialysis units in Kinston are expected to open at 7:30 AM on Sunday, 9-16-18, for our community dialysis patients.  Please contact Lenoir County Transit @252-523-4171 for transport if needed.

UNC Lenoir Health Care is experiencing intermittent phone service so that external communications may be lost. If we determine an alternate number that can be called it will be posted here and on our Facebook page.  Know that we are well staffed, have plenty of resources, and we are taking very good care of our patients.

In the interest of public safety and with concern for our patients, UNC Lenoir Health Care will be initiating restricted access to the hospital on Wednesday night.  Those visiting patients should enter the building through the Airport Road entrance and those needing medical care should enter through the Emergency Department entrance.  All other entry points will be locked.

The following cancellations/closures are in effect for both Thursday and Friday.

  • Outpatient Rehab services will close at Noon on Thursday.
  • Wound Care is closed
  • Elective Surgeries have been cancelled
  • All out patient radiology procedures have been cancelled
  • UNC Lenoir Health Care Cancer Center is closed
  • All UNC Lenoir practices will be closed (Orthopedics, Surgical, Women’s Health, Urology, Neurology, Family Medicine and Pulmonary)

The following closures are in effect for Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

  • Minges Wellness Center
  • UNC Lenoir Ambulatory Care

Shelters will be open at Lenoir Community College, North Lenoir High School, and South Lenoir High School. We encourage anyone dependent on medical equipment to make arrangements to go to the shelter at Lenoir Community College if you find it necessary to leave your home.  If you require daily routine medical assistance you may contact the Emergency Operations Center for Lenoir County at 252-559-1911.

En interés de la seguridad pública y con preocupación por nuestros pacientes, UNC Lenoir Health Care iniciará el acceso restringido al hospital el miércoles por la noche.
