National Healthcare Volunteer Week
Did you know that this week is National Healthcare Volunteer Week?
This week is designated to recognize the service, dedication and commitment of volunteers in health care organizations across the country. Volunteers play an important role in today’s hospitals. They help the hospital run smoothly, and allow doctors and nurses to spend their time focusing on providing the best healthcare for their patients.
UNC Lenoir Health Care is fortunate to have many dedicated volunteers. In 2016 alone, 245 volunteers served 36,764 hours! This is the equivalent of over 17 full-time employees available to assist patients, families and visitors. In addition to these valuable hours, our volunteers also raised and donated over $112,000 last year through programs like Lights of Love, employee scholarships, Cheer Corner, sock monkeys, and more.
In honor of National Healthcare Volunteer Week, we’d like to introduce you to a few of our gracious volunteers and share some of the things our staff had to say about them.
If you are interested in getting involved with our volunteer program, please contact Ann Durusky at 252.522.7006 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
Thank you to all of our volunteers at UNC Lenoir Health Care!
