Medical Laboratory Professionals Week

This week, April 23 through April 29, is Medical Laboratory Professionals Week and we want to celebrate our medical laboratory professionals and pathologists who play a vital role in every aspect of health care at UNC Lenoir!

Did you know that over 70% of medical decisions are dependent on laboratory testing? There are nearly 13 billion tests run by lab professionals across the United States each year, and doctors rely on lab professionals to make informed patient diagnoses every day. Medical laboratory professionals generate lab results that are needed to aid in detecting cancer, heart attacks, diabetes, infectious mononucleosis, and identification of bacteria or viruses that cause infections, as well as in detecting drugs of abuse.

In honor of this special week, we’d like to introduce you to two of our very own lab professionals!
