Find the support you need from our board-certified cardiologists to help prevent, diagnose, and treat conditions that affect your heart and blood vessels, such as:

Diagnosis & Cardiac Testing

Depend on us to perform a complete cardiac evaluation as the first step to diagnose your symptoms. Your doctor will use heart tests and advanced technology at UNC Lenoir to detect and treat your heart problem. Your tests may include:

Cardiac Catheterization

If you need a diagnostic cardiac catheterization test to look at your heart, your cardiologist can perform the procedure close to home in the Catheterization Lab (Cath Lab) at UNC Lenoir. You may be able to go home about two hours after your diagnostic heart catheterization.

Coronary Angiogram

You may also get a coronary angiogram along with your heart catheterization procedure to check for blood flow blockages in your coronary arteries.

Angioplasty & Stent Placement

If your cardiac catheterization shows a blockage or narrowing of your arteries, your doctor can treat it using a percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). This minimally invasive procedure, also known as angioplasty and stent placement, takes place in our Cath Lab. You can expect to stay in the hospital overnight after your procedure and return home the next day. If you require a higher level of care or surgery, UNC Lenoir partners with East Carolina Heart Institute to provide the best possible care for your individual needs. We’ll transport you by air to Greenville, North Carolina.
